One of the problems for nephrology is the lack of consensus. Rather, the general public hears a plethora of views. The NKF and the ASN speak out with different voices. Take for example, screening for kidney disease:
The American College of Physicians (ACP) doesn't recommend routine screening for the general population, whereas the American Society of Nephrology (ASN) does. In contrast the National Kidney Foundation recommends screening for kidney disease for all adults over the age of 60 years.
