
This is an important issue for our transplant patients, but I believe important for nephrologists also. It makes no sense that some patients who can't afford their medications return to the transplant list because their allograft fails. The waiting is already long and it will only get longer.
Besides, the most important reason is that returning patients to dialysis makes no human or financial sense. Look at the data: the renal transplant outcomes in our patients in the US are worse than other comparable countries that provide coverage. The data that Gill and Tonelli cite in their perspective article is pause for thought.
I know it takes time to complete a petition, but please take the time.
